    We leave passing through the forest that surrounds the Franciscan Sanctuary of La Verna: this sacred place is important for Christians because it is thought that here in 1224 St. Francis received the stigmata. Beyond the religious motivations that make this place interesting, what is evident is its suggestiveness. After a quick visit to the Sanctuary we will continue along the Sacred Valley accompanied by a change of views and ecosystems until we reach the refuge Casa Santicchio for dinner and overnight stay.

    Distance: 9,5 km

    We leave after breakfast to Badia Prataglia. The route will wind along the Valle Santa through the woods and prairies of Frasseneta and Poggio della Cesta. The passage of today, will be less demanding in terms of physical effort and more scenic. The destination will be reached in the afternoon arriving in Badia Prataglia in the heart of the Park.

    Distance: 14,5 km

    We leave the village of Badia and we immediately enter the beechwood going up the ridge. From here, following a comfortable forest road we will reach the forest of Camaldoli and the homonymous Hermitage. The Hermitage, wisely preserved, offers the opportunity to get in touch with the monastic life and it will be possible not only to visit the complex but also to buy typical products (ALCOHOL) made of herbs produced by the monks. At the end of the short visit, we will resume the walk inside the forest until we reach the Asqua refuge.

    Distance: 16,5 km

    We leave the refuge and go up the slope to the Crinale maggiore that marks the border between Tuscany and Romagna, continuing on the ridge trail through the suggestive beech woods that surround the Riserva Integrale di Sasso Fratino (Unesco Heritage). We reach the Passo della Calla and descend through the fir woods to Campigna.

    Vertical descent: +725/-975 m
    Distance: 16,5 km

    We go up through the forest of fir trees until we reach the panoramic view of Prati della Burraia and the peaks of Monte Falco and Falterona. We then descend to the source of the Arno River and Lake Idoli, continuing downhill until the end of the trail, where the transport will take us back to the starting point.
