Finding the G.A.S. + Fiastra Lake

 
 
The itinerary
  • Our trekking departs from Fiastra where you will meet our guide that will take you to the first stop of this trip: Lame Rosse. This incredible natural sculpture were shaped by the atmospheric agents throughout the centuries leaving today these “blades” of rock. We will also sto by in Fiastra a little village overlooking the lake and built 732 metres above the sea level and surrounded by the northern part of the Sibillini Mounts.

    We head north towards the peaks that from Punta di Ragnolo and Pizzo Chioggia shelve into the Fiastrone Valley. The path goes past Acquacanina to get to Piani di Ragnolo, destination of day 2. After resting a bit, shuttle van will take us to Garulla where dinner will be served before overnight.

    Our trek continues towards Rubbiano: the massive shape of Mount Priora is the initial scenery for day 3. Beyond this mountain, Mount Sibilla, (the place where this prophetesses is believed to live) will be the background for the rest of the day. Shuttle transfer will take us back to Montemonaco where our dinner gourmet is ready to be served.

    • Vertical descent: 650 m

     

    The variety of environments is one of the best features of the G.A.S: here at the Infernaccio Gorge you have one example of this variety as you will visit a beech wood named after Saint Leonard before getting to the monastery named after the same saint. Here, our shuttle will take you back to Montemonaco for the overnight.

    We keep on going on the trace of G.A.S. to reach Tofe and then Altino; going through the woods you will clearly noticed the huge mass of Mount Vettore, the highest of this chain. The target for today is the little church of Santa Maria del Pantano.
