Ancona and its surroundings

The itinerary
  • Ancona is waiting for you! Upon arrival, our guide will meet you to take you around the city. You will have the chance to see the iconic St. Ciriaco Cathedral overlooking the port, the ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheatre and some other beauties of the chief town. Once done, we booked you an aperitivo and a traditional seafood dinner. Overnight will be here.

  • Today you're driving to Loreto: this is one of the most important cities for Christians as, it is believed that Mary's home flew all the way from Palestine here. That's why the huge church who keeps inside this little hut is called Basilica of the Holy House. You will notice it on your way to the town as it size dominates the scenery. The Basilica is a real masterpiece of architecture and art, clearly, to reflect the importance for pilgrims coming here from all over the world. In the afternoon the drive continues to Recanati, just few hills away. Here is where poet Giacomo Leopardi, one of the most important exponents of the Italian literature, was born. Since Leopardi was part of a noble and powerful family of the area, Recanati's reputation and history is related to the writer and our guide will let you discover more about this. Afterwards get some free time to chill in Recanati before driving back to Ancona.

  • Today we're taking you to somewhere a bit more unknown, just few kilometres out of Ancona: you're driving to Osimo, little fortified village who has an interesting underground heritage worth a visit. Once finished with the underground exploration, next stop will be Offagna where a "crescia" based lunch (which is a flatbread) will be served. Offagna also owns a beautiful castle and we suggest a little walk around. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the area.

  • Once checked out from the accommodation there is nothing else we scheduled. If you still have time, take the chance to explore more the area.
